Are you an aspiring food or beverage startup entrepreneur?   Do you want to know what efforts are going on in Benton County to grow the food and beverage business?   Kate Porsche from the Corvallis Benton County Economic Development Office will be at Pitchfork to tell you more about ongoing efforts.   Join us at Corvallis Foundry to nurture our growing beverage/food community at our second Pitchfork event! We invite you to bring samples, taste samples, share your ideas and success stories, and participate in an open conversation about our ever-growing and ever-changing beverage and food industry right here in the Willamette Valley! Be sure to stay tuned for our announcement on presenters. Have you heard the term “Grow Our Own?” It's based on the belief that quality and sustainable job growth starts by supporting existing Oregon companies to stay and grow right here at home. Nowhere does it make more sense to have a bold conversation about how to "Grow our Own" than around food and beverage. At Corvallis Foundry we're huge supporters of getting people together with common interests and common curiosity. Let's get everyone talking and listening, toss in a little education, have some startups talk about what they are doing, add some food and beverage, and see what evolves. We’re launching PitchFork monthly mixers to encourage a “louder” conversation around our food and beverage startups. These numbers help explain why. In 2016 Business Oregon surveyed 500 firms, got back over 20% of those surveys, held 13 regional meetings, conducted focus groups and found this (statistics from 2014). The Oregon food and beverage manufacturing industry had $717 million in export sales, beverages grew 651% from 2004. Total sales are estimated at $16.4 billion and they have a significant multiplier effect on the Oregon economy. The 36,000 direct jobs create over 80,000 more jobs statewide and support 13% of the state economy. Almost every food and beverage business started as a small business with a simple idea. PitchFork is an effort to get those ideas out in the open and connect startups with the tools and people they need to be successful.  Please sign up, space is limited to 50.
